The holidays are always a whirlwind of projects for me and I’m sure many of you as well. All year I promise myself that I’m going to start early and get my cards made and out of the way so that I can get some sewing done as well. Ha! throw that plan out because I don’t think It will ever happen that way for me. But I’m really ok with that. I enjoy being asked for personalized items that although they take more time, I know the person receiving it will enjoy it so much that it makes it all worth it.
A friend asked for a small overnight bag for her 4 year old daughter who visited family on the weekends. Her favorite colors are pink and purple and her favorite cartoon is Doc McStuffins. I took the challenge on and came up with this cute small duffle bag that I made with a Butterick pattern. It was such a joy to make this bag with all of a little girls favorite things. The bag is lined with a pink cotton with silver tiaras and I chose a lovely font and ironed her name on the back of the bag in purple. Since she is receiving this as a Christmas gift, I couldn’t help putting a Doc McStuffins coloring book and a box of crayons in the bag for the little princess to color while she’s away for the weekends.
I used my Silhouette to print and cut the name and image for the bag.
I used pattern C for this bag.
